DPVA Blasts Netroots

Posted by redvirginia on June 20, 2008

In a mysterious move, George Burke is attempting to remove Raising Kaine’s Lowell Feld and Not Larry Sabato’s Ben Tribbett from the embedded bloggers to the DNC convention in August.  Since Burke has begun the battle against the internet many interesting developments have taken place.  I will also add that the netroots on the right are the beneficiary of a battle of this type.

First, Raising Kaine posts a letter yesterday from their Executive Committee backing up Lowell in his endeavor to stay as one of the embedded bloggers.  Interestingly, they claim that Ben is a basket case at the end.  It’s funny how Lowell is willing to cover his back at all costs- even when he and Ben collaborated on the Byrne/Connolly primary which has caused this current battle.

Second, Ben Tirbbett at NLS is battling away.  Unlike Lowell, Ben is standing up to the Governor and DPVA and continuing the mud slinging.  He is yet to cease the attacks on Governor Gridlock (which he is currently comparing to Governor Gilmore) and is still shooting at Connolly.  This is just too good!  I appreciate that Ben is going to stand up to the man and fight for his philosophy.  I would do the same if I were him.  He should not be bullied into supporting a Fairfax thug or a failed Governor.

So, as a result of this battle, good posts have been coming regularly against the DPVA Establishment.  Here are a few:

Your headline is misleading. George Burke is not the DPVA.

I have also posted this on BVBL.
You are missing the point completely and you are also incorrect in your reporting. There is no move to ban any blogger from attending the convention and sitting in the areas designated for bloggers at the convention. The issue is why should a blogger be named by the DNC as the DNC blogger for VA when that blogger consistently bashes the elected Democratic leadership? We are not talking about disagreeing with issues on an adult level, we are talking about unfounded slander and brutal personal attacks. Would the RNC appoint an official blogger to a convention if that blogger constantly attacked Bush or McCain as a warmonger or idiot or worse? Of course not.
Free speech is not the issue. No mention has been made of trying to pull “press” (I am using that word very generously) credentials. They are free to go and blog away with the rest. They simply should not be rewarded by the Democratic party by being allowed to be embedded with the VA Democratic delegation. That privilege should be given to a blogger who overall supports the platform of the Democratic party; who raises questions and issues with intelligence as opposed to rhetoric, and who is adult enough to disagree with a position or policy without resorting to first grade level tactics.

This shit blog hasnt been updated in a while. Maybe the writer got hit by a bus! Anyway, it was wrong in an earlier post when it stated Frank Wolf did not endorse John McCain. He has. Funnier still is how the conservatives don’t like Frank but use him when it is convenient and Eric Cantor, love child to the Conservatives, endorsed McCain and they are silent.
