Here is What Ellmore Should Expect

Posted by redvirginia on April 3, 2008

In the upcoming primary in the 8th District, here is what Republicrat Mark Ellmore should expect. But first, lets see how he faired in 2006 when he faced Tom Odonoghue and lost.

2006 Primary Election Results

Locality Mark Ellmore Tom Odonoghue Votes Cast
Arlington County 431/31.1% 956/68.9% 1,387
Fairfax County 522/29.8% 1,227/70.2% 1,749
Alexandria City 354/20.4% 810/69.6% 1,164
Falls Church City 38/34.9% 71/65.1% 109
District Totals 1,345/30.51% 3,064/69.49% 4,409

As the Ellmore campaign continues to say they have more experience, I have to ask, are you kidding me? Ellmore got crushed in 2006 by the Odonoghue campaign. Ellmore was operating the same way then as he is now. He has a KID running his campaign. The guy has no experience. Is he even taking the race seriously while he is sitting in class?

Amit Singh is running a serious campaign and is organizing in all of the important places. Even though the 8th district is not typically competitive, it is important to give Republicans in that district a chance to voice their opinions. Amit Singh is the best person to carry the banner for the Republicans in the 8th.

Ellmore should expect very similar results from 2006. Let’s face it, if he was popular, it would have been evident then. He has been running since the November 8, 2006 and will be defeated by a man who jumped in the race 2 weeks ago. It’s time to go Mr. Ellmore!

Great piece on Mr. Singh. I continue to be impressed by his campaign.

Tom O’Donoghue was the better guy in 2006….but it doesn’t take much intelligence to see Singh vs Ellmore and who the better guy is now. The difference between Ellmore in 06 and the difference now is phenomenal. Just look at his website, he has been meeting with tons of different Congressmen all over the Hill. He clearly has connections and has learned quite a bit about politics since 06.

I also distinctly remember Amit telling everyone in the 2nd week of February at FCRC that Ellmore was too conservative and that the 8th district needs a moderate like him. Amit isn’t running to win, he is running for the message- but he doesn’t have a good message at that.

This is atrocious! Anyone that has even the most basic understanding of a representative democracy knows that the voters get to decide who represents the 8th, not a cleaver little post urging a candidate to drop out.

And in regards to your criticism of the campaign manager, you may kindly refer to Mark Ellmore’s online blog from last Friday. A blog where he very courageously toted the young managers mastered understanding of politics. He continued stating his position in the community as a mentor and advocate of youth in the professional realm.

2006 went and passed, and now it’s 2008, a totally new race. Let Mark Ellmore speak for himself, just as he allows his opponent, Mr. Singh, to do at every opportunity.

More blog bias. At least give equal opportunity to all the candidates…Ellmore has a HUGE amount of support, I would highly recommend this blog handle both sides of the race…

I agree, I am willing to bet this blogger has never even talked to Mark Ellmore….because I am baffled at how a supposed Republican could support Singh over Ellmore.

  6. Whoa, wait, did you just say how could a Republican support Singh over Ellmore? Its easy, he is a conservative. Ellmore is a Republican socialist and a joke. He is for the iraq war and pulling our troops out all at the same time. He is a complete joke. Look at his issues, its all double talk. Amit Singh is prinicpled, and is not running this race to be anything but. Besides, if you dont think a conservative can beat Moran, what part of you thinks a diet liberal (Ellmore) can.
    SINGH 08!

What I do know is hearing the two candidates speak at our Reston club meeting the other week. Ellmore got up and spoke about his son’s service in Korea…and I heard Singh tell Ellmore that “Its nice that Mark’s son is over in Korea now…we already won the war there, its time for those troops to go home.”
Just like most people, I refused to go over and speak to Amit after that.

Btw, calling a Republican a socialist is not only not going to get you far, its not intelligent. Ellmore has been in the race for about a year now I think. We all know Ellmore and none of my fellow committee members are going to buy that. It also doesn’t look favorably upon Amit’s supporters for them to be calling a fellow Republican a socialist.

Not to mention, just realized that Amit is only 33 years old? Thats about 20 years younger than the average voter in this district. I look at Amit as that little high school student with a lot of energy and thats it.

Let’s not forget that Ellmore wrote a book too, and he didn’t even go to college or finish highschool in 4 years. That takes a brilliant man. More taxpayer money towards medicare and medicade is pure conservative genius.

Uhh, how is Singh the best candidate in the 8th? Last I checked, the 8th is a heavily gerrymandered district with a longtime Dem incumbent. Please explain how a candidate who is essentially running as Ron Paul Lite is the best GOP choice for the 8th? I admit, any GOP candidate is going to face a tough uphill battle, but why would we want libertarian-lite to be the face of the GOP in this tough fight. This campaign will be about laying the foundation for when Moran is gone. If the GOP is going to be competetive, that foundation must be moderate, business-oriented, and professional; not wild-eyed and ideological. Mark Ellmore is the future of the GOP in NOVA, plain and simple. If Amit wants to win, he should change his name to Bubba and go to Halifax or Shenandoah, where his views are more palatable.

John – Have you read that “book” of Ellmore’s? It’s about 50 pages long and talks about how he had to wear adult diapers a couple years ago. Not exactly the work of a “brilliant man.”

The best candidate for the GOP in the 8th is one capable of winning over the Democrats, because if the GOP candidate can’t win over Democrats, the GOP might as well save the money and not run a candidate. Singh is a MUCH better candidate, especially in this regard. The ironic thing is that not only does Singh have a better platform to face the Dems, but his platform is also closer to the Republican platform than Ellmore. Ellmore is basically a neoconservative hack, pro-war but otherwise a left-wing industrialist – that’s not Republican. Pro-war is not a watershed issue for the GOP, especially not anymore.

On top of all that, I understand and have it on good authority that Ellmore is a Cowboys fan. Always has been…not that he has any rooting interest, but rather (and even more deplorably) because he hates the Skins. Now you tell me, how can you expect to compete in NOVA with that kind of baggage?
