Tazewell County GOP Scandal
Posted by redvirginia on March 23, 2008
Yesterday, the Tazewell county GOP held a convention to handle nominations for the upcoming conventions. Apparently there were many problems with the convention- such as people being locked out. There were police on hand at the convention and apparently they were not disturbed by the people being locked out of the convention. What exactly went on in Tazewell County???
Reports are that 137 people that came to file to vote, only 27 were ruled eligible to vote! Not even the 9th District GOP Chairman was ruled eligible to participate in his county’s convention. Those people who were disenfranchised appeared to outnumber everyone at the convention by a 2-1 margin. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
People were disenfranchised for no good reason- for example people were disqualified from participating because their forms were photocopied! The way this convention was run was disgusting. This was a true show of political thuggery.

This is just another example of how people who get too much power like to reign over everyone else!

Funny Coincidence said
I heard that in a strange coincidence, almost all of the delegates who were seated were Marshall supporters while nearly everyone locked out (a vast majority of those present) just happened to be Gilmore supporters. I’m sure it has nothing to do with Pat Martin being a big Marshall supporter though.
Is this Pat Martin? said
“I am supporting Bob Marshall because he is 100 percent pro-life,” said Pat Martin, 60, chairwoman of the Tazewell County Republican Committee in southwest Virginia.

So who is shooting the video? A democrat. Who is outside “locked out” of the GOP meeting? Democrats. Who tried to subvert the Tazwell delegates voting withing their own party? Democrats.
Wake up people, this video only looks bad if you don’t relaize who’s pushing record and stop, and if you don’t know who the people are outside where they belong for a PARTY meeting. THAT’S why the police where there- to keep the order, peace, and democrats out of the republican-only meeting.
If Ben Tribbet- WRITER of this blog were honest, these facts would be disclosed. But Ben, is not honest with us as usual.

Dems in disguise,
Sorry you are wrong on all accounts. If you watched the video… and I’m sure you have… you know that it was filmed by a GOP member of the Buchanan county party that was visiting and speaking for a candidate. Stop campaigning and apologizing for a cause that are already beyond repair. You must really not care what honesty is all about. Police were there to intimidate, frustrate, and to help the Martin cronies stay in power… which is exactly what happened.
BTW – Police intimidation only occurs in megalomaniac dictatorships or counties where the political leadership has issues with control, paranoia, and scheziphrenia..lol. I’ll say that you are censorship liberal too… and probably sided with the police @ Bejing. You really must be a dem in disguise. Nice choice of pen name.
so long.

I ‘ve seen a few comments on other sites stating that people were not permitted to participate because they did not meet the 9:00 a.m deadline or that the form was a photo copy. The problem is that nobody locked out was told why their particular form was rejected.
I know that husbands were apparently not permitted to pick up forms for wives, and when photocopies were made for their wives use, both of their forms were rejected.
For the first year, there was a $1,000.00 filing fee to run for chair. Why?? Aaron Robert’s was running against Pat Martin and was expected to post $1,000.00 to Marie Matney’s door with his delegate form on a night with a Tornado Advisory.. How ridiculous.
The county “leadership” refused to respond to requests about the call, time/location of meeting, etc., before the filing deadline. (“My four, and no more”) and no observers were permitted into the convention.
I challenge the Pat Pack to work half as hard for the Republican Party, as they do to maintain their control over county that has not had a Republican Consitutional Office Candidate for close to a decade.
