Frederick in the lead???

Delegate Jeff Frederick is claiming that he has a lead in delegates for the State Convention for the Chairman’s race. The number he claims: 1,037 to Hager’s 907. Many major counties are yet to seat delegates so this should change drastically. Where are all of the Hager people???
BLACK VELVET BRUCE LI : Jeff Frederick Leads John Hagar For RPV Chairman said
[...] Red Virginia is reporting that Delegate Jeff Frederick may have an early delegate lead in the race to become the next Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, with 1037 pledged delegates while incumbent John Hagar’s total lags at 907. Of note, Jeff Frederick’s home turf of Prince William County will not select delegates to the state convention until March 29th, which suggests this lead should continue to grow. [...]

To answer your question: the Hager people are in Richmond wetting their pants.
I have nothing against Hager, who is a fine man and dedicated public servant, but the old establishment crowd is just too out of touch with the troops on the ground, so to speak. They have lost the grassroots, and by doing so they will continue to lose elections. Frederick is tapping into a deep vein of frustration among party activists about what is perceived to be a lackadaisical, business-as-usual attitude by party leaders (often from the local level all the way to the top nationally), despite getting our butts kicked in election after election. If we’re going to reinvigorate the party and start winning elections again, we’re going to need new, vigorous, principled leadership.
Jeff Frederick is the guy who is going to provide that, by capitalizing on his experience in winning elections in a Democrat district, in raising funds, in organizing and motivating the grass roots, and in advancing conservative, Reaganite ideas. He’s building his campaign from the bottom up, instead of the top down, which illustrates perfectly the difference in approach (end effectiveness) of the two candidates. Hager’s people are the type that are in Richmond or travel there frequently. Frederick’s people are everyone else.

The numbers are transparently made up by Frederick from his email yesterday … most delegates never attended a meeting, never heard of Frederick and don’t even know there’s a Chairman’s race — much less have chosen a candidate. To be blunt, Frederick’s numbers are lies.
He may win or may not. I am not supporting him, or Hager … and in fact have reason to be pretty sure there will be an alternative, conservative pro-life candidate in the race long before the convention.
Time will tell, but crap numbers like this should be exploded everytime some hotshot politico uses them whether it is Boyd Marcus, Ray Allen or Jeff Frederick, IMO.
Ciao.

It is very difficult for a campaign to come up with accurate delegate counts for a race like this. You need an extensive organization on the ground which is hard enough for a Senate campaign to put together. I have not seen any sign of either of the Chairman campaigns having the resources.
