Why John McCain Should Never Get the Conservative Vote: Part 1

Posted by redvirginia on January 23, 2008

For many years Senator John McCain has been known as the “maverick” Senator from Arizona who is able to work with both sides. Few, if any, knew him as a “conservative.” There are many points throughout his career which highlight his MODERATE ways. I will show those to you.

John McCain is not a conservative. Let’s look at the Bush tax cuts. While many conservatives can find a problem with these tax cuts due to the fact that there was no cut in spending, John McCain could not figure that part out – until 2008. John McCain has had several answers why he did not support the Bush tax cuts. He has adapted each answer to suit each crowd. Most notable- he did not take a conservative stance on opposing the tax cuts until 2008!!! That is a long time to change John!

McCain refers often to being a “change” candidate. I believe he will be a change candidate. He will change his positions on everything all the time. He is a maverick and people must remember. He has slapped conservatives in the face time after time. He has written conservatives off trying to win with independent moderates. He is not conservative!
