Too Close To Call

Today the voters of Michigan are heading out to the polls. In Michigan’s open primary, the race is too close to call. A couple of factors will be playing in todays election results:

-No Democratic Primary. While you can go in and cast a vote in the Democratic Primary, there is absolutely no reason to. Dennis Kucinich and Hillary Clinton are the only candidates on the ballot. As well, DNC has punished Democratic Party of Michigan by removing their convention delegates. This primary will have absolutely no bearing on their nomination process which leaves all the Democratic voters the chance to vote in the Republican Primary.

-Daily Kos has called upon all the Michigan liberals to vote for Mitt Romney in the Michigan primary. Their strategy is nto one of choosing the most liberal republican but one of choosing a candidate that will keep the GOP race in disarray for just a while longer. The GOP still has several candidates that are so called “front runners” but there is not yet a clear choice. As some would say, a victory for Mitt would only pull the GOP farther away from coalescing behind one candidate. I think though that if Mitt was to win tonight that this would be a devastating blow to both McCain and Huckabee who have desperately tried to destroy him.

-John McCain has tried to sway independents as always onto his side. Unfortunately he has made a couple of mistakes. Michigan is in a 1 state recession and has the highest unemployment rate in the country. McCain just this week told a bunch of press and Michiganders that the jobs would never come back to Michigan. He has since been trying to change the meaning of what he said and has also denied that he has said it- even though it was captured on about 515453405 different news cameras.

If you still trust polls after New Hampshire then todays primary in Michigan is just too close to call. It would appear that Romney gained some momentum in the last 3 days and may have done just what it takes to have a W tonight. Here are the RCP averages.
