Candidates File for VA Primary Ballot

Posted by redvirginia on November 30, 2007

Two candidates have filed so far to be on the ballot for the primary in Virginia. For the Republicans, so far Mitt Romney has been the only one to file. Obama is the only to file so far for the Democrats. Apparently Obama collected close to 20,000 signatures which is almost double the required 10,000. Mitt Romney collected over 15,000 and was able to turn his in first among Republicans! Fred Thompson got off to a very late start collecting signatures in VA as did Mike Huckabee. Side note, Mitt Romney was able to collect his signatures with a volunteer army while Mike Huckabee is having to pay 50 cents a signature. Mitt Romney seems to have a good grass roots network in place in VA but it is still too early to tell who really is in first place here.
